New course: OCN L1 Community & Drug Awareness starting September 2011

A new Open College Network L1 Community & Drug Awareness course will be starting in September. This six week course will enable participants the opportunity to explore issues and concerns around drug & alcohol misuse and the impact it has on the wider community especially among young people. There are only a few places left so if you are interested please speak to Tommie as soon as possible.

An OCN level 1 course entitled ‘Young People and Law & Order’ will be starting soon in Cheers. It lasts for six weeks and addresses issues around anti social behaviour. This course is extremely popular and places are limited. Please contact Tommie as soon as possible if you need any further information or wish to take part.

Stranocum group complete Peer Leadership Course

Congratulations to the Stranocum group who have just recently completed their Open College Network Level 2 certificate in Peer Leadership. During this 12 week course in our training room at Cheers the young people have been looking at issues around leadership, communication, working together and developing teamwork skills. They also completed two sessions on drugs, alcohol and risk taking behaviours. Well done!

Peace 3 Programme ending:

Our Peace 3 programme which has been running in Cheers on Thursday evenings since last May is coming to an end this Thursday night. To mark this occasion all those who took part in it are invited to a celebration of achievement evening in Bushmills Education Centre at 7pm. There are five other programmes running in the North East Cluster and this will be a great opportunity to meet them and share ideas. Refreshments are provided and there will be a presentation from the young people the who took part from each area. If you need any further details or transport please contact Tommie.

Army Career?

Are you interested in a career in the Army? If the answer is yes then you might be interested in a five day work experience course with the Army at Ballykilner Camp. Cheers Youth Centre can now arrange this for you. Speak to Tommie for further information, application requirements, and to discuss dates for attending. This course is open to both male and female.
